Personal Connection:
Pip always wants to improve himself in any way that he
can. When it comes to education or his statuses socially and morally, he wants
them to be improved. He has always wanted to be an extremely wealthy gentleman
and right as he is getting his fortune that will make him a gentleman; he
begins to push his family and friends away so that he could become the
gentleman that he has always wanted to be. During this time, he wasn’t really
thinking about himself, he was only focusing on his wealth. But after he
finally got the wealth that he wanted and became a gentleman, he had time to discover
that he was alone and not happy because he has excluded himself from his family
and friends. He got so caught up in his moment; his moment of becoming a
gentleman that he forgot about what makes him truly happy which is being with
family and friends. Whenever I get caught up in something that I want or like
so much, I separate myself from everything and everyone so that it is just me
and my fascination of the moment, just like Pip. But when I get out of the fog
of whatever I was into, I realize that that doesn’t make me as happy and joyful
as I am with my friends and family. Pip and I both realize that spending time
with the people that you love and the people who love you is more important and
it is worth it because it makes you truly happy.
